An independent research desk, founded August 2015
We research markets to order for teams in the US, Europe and MEA. This page explains what we do, the rules we work by, and how to reach us.
What we do
We research markets to order
Most teams do not need another generic market report. They need a number they can defend for a specific market, region and decision. That is the work we do.
We take a brief, research the market from the ground up, and deliver a report, a workbook and a sizing model you can change. Published reports are a starting point. We write new ones in any sector when a client needs them.
The desk was founded in August 2015. The method has stayed the same since then: brief, research, model, deliver.

Process
How a project runs
- Step 1
Brief
We agree the market, the regions and the question before any work starts.
- Step 2
Research
Analysts collect and check the data from agencies, filings and the industry.
- Step 3
Model
We size the market two ways and write out every assumption.
- Step 4
Deliver
You get the report, the workbook and time with the analyst.
Method
Sizing a market two ways
Top-down
Start from total spend in the sector and narrow it to the part this market can address.
Bottom-up
Count buyers or installed units, then apply adoption, usage and price per unit.
Principles
Five rules the desk works by
Built to your brief
We start from the decision you have to make, and shape the scope, the regions and the cuts of data around it.
Analysts, not aggregators
Each report is researched and written by an analyst who owns it, from the first data request to your last question.
Dated and checked
Each page prints the date it was last updated. Figures that age out are refreshed or removed.
Plain about limits
Estimates are marked as estimates. Where two inputs disagree, we show both instead of picking the convenient one.
Independent of vendors
Companies profiled in a report do not pay to be included, and they do not review the numbers before publication.
Who reads our reports
Strategy and corporate development teams who need a defensible number for a plan. Investors and analysts checking a thesis before they commit time. Consultants and founders who need a market size for a deck, and want the workbook behind it.
What we do not do
We do not publish guaranteed outcomes, and we do not present a forecast as a fact. We do not take payment from profiled companies to feature them. If we cannot support a number, the report says so or leaves it out.
Corrections
If you find an error, write to info@stratummarketresearch.com with the page and the figure. We answer within two working days, fix the page, and update the date.
